Meet Baby Björn {A Newborn Lifestyle Session}

It’s a glorious day, folks, and do you want to know why? Because I’ve got Grete and Willem’s 3-week-old baby, Björn, coming at you on the blog! There was so much love and sweetness in this in-home Newborn Lifestyle photo session. Seriously, photographing them at their home felt like stepping into a warm, cozy bubble. A very special and very precious experience.
What's the first thing that ran through your mind when you found out you were pregnant?
Lots of excitement and joy mixed with a healthy dose of fear. This being our rainbow baby we were a bit apprehensive until the first doctor’s check up, and from there on it was just pure happiness.
How did you feel the first time you saw your baby?
It was the most surreal experience of my life. Someone who you have been looking forward to meeting for so long and who has been living inside you all this time is finally in this world.
How was your experience having your newborn photographed? Were you nervous/excited? Was it what you expected? How did it turn out?I was amazed how quickly the time flew by and the most difficult part of the whole process was getting down to 45 photos. You receive so many beautiful photos and it is hard to pick the ones that you like the most.
How did you prepare your baby for our photo session together?
We bathed our baby beforehand so that he was calmer during the shoot and put on a really cute newborn outfit.
Any words of advice for someone wanting to book a Newborn Lifestyle Session?
Initially, I was torn if I should book a newborn photoshoot. Having a baby comes with a lot of expenses so I was questioning if these additional expenses are worthwhile.
Also, neither my husband, nor myself are fans of the newborn shoots in studio, where most of the time photos appear unnatural and too staged to our tastes. I even asked my friends who have children if it is worth to do a newborn photoshoot.
However, the more I thought, the more I realised that previous newborn moments will be gone very soon. In the end I decided to go for a professional photoshoot to capture those moments.
What appealed to us was that the photoshoot was in our home, in our and baby’s natural environment.
What was your favourite part about our session together?
It went by so quickly and effortlessly. Also, since it happened in our home, there was time to feed the baby when he started crying halfway throughout the session.

Since Karien is a mother herself she was really understanding and accommodating when we had to move the date of the photoshoot on the morning of the original session date due to baby being unwell.
