Danielle & Alex {A Wedding Story}
Hi gang! Welcome back to my blog.
I always adore photographing weddings. There's so much love in the air and the bride and groom spent so much time carefully planning all the details. It was not any different for Danielle and Alex’s wedding, either!
Danielle and her bridesmaids got ready at the family in Melkbosstrand. The excitement was running high! Everything was prepped and ready to go!
Over at the Groom's place, the boys were enjoying the moment - taking it easy and having a blast! There's no better way to get ready for your bride. Alex couldn't wait to become Danielle's husband!
The wedding was held at the famous Pampoenkraal Wedding and Function venue in Durbanville. What a gorgeous venue!
Pampoenkraal (from the Dutch word 'pampoen' meaning pumpkin, and 'kraal' meaning an enclosure for livestock), now better known as Durbanville, was founded early in the 1800s around a spring and served mainly as a watering station for travellers between Cape Town and the interior of South Africa.
Pampoenkraal Wedding and Function venue is situated on Altydgedacht Wine Estate, which dates back to 1698 and lies on the slopes of the Tygerberg Hills.
Danielle and Alex met in July 2015 at The Slug & Lettuce in Durbanville. Two bottles of wine later and the rest is history.
To pop the question, Alex took Danielle on a painfully long 'heat-killing-hike', as she likes to recall it, all the way up the mountain. She kept telling him how he better give her a massive gift if she makes it to the top. When they finally got to the top he went down on one knee.
But before being able to ask the celebrated question, she interrupted him by telling him he had something in his teeth! After sorting that out, he was back down on one knee and that's when Danielle started crying.
When I asked Danielle what her favourite part of the wedding was, she said:
“For me, living in Johannesburg and having most of my family in Cape Town and the UK, it was a great family reunion. But the most cherished memory is walking down the aisle and not falling on my face! .”
You could tell they were really loving every minute of their special day. "Everything worked well together! We had an army of family planning everything for us and the day captured who we are as a couple."
"How were the nerves before the big day?" I asked. "I have serious OCD," Danielle said, "and not being able to see everything together before the wedding killed me! I'm sure it silently killed everyone else involved hearing me moan and stress, but it all came together perfectly, better than I expected."
"The wedding was better than we could ever have imagined it!"
Okay, enough talk. Let's get to more pictures!
Any advice for other couples getting married? "Take it all in," Danielle says, "and enjoy every moment! The time goes by way too quickly!"
Aaaaaw thank you Danielle and Alex! It was an absolute honour to have spent such a magical day with you and your family and friends! We look forward to doing your Honeymoon session soon!
