Meet Katrien {A Newborn Lifestyle Session}
Welcome back, fellow avid photo lovers!
I always love doing posed newborn photos, but I also get really excited about going into new parents' homes and photographing those very special and very candid moments, too! Today's blog post features mom Monique, Dad Gerhard, and their newborn baby girl, Katrien.
One of the best parts of going into someone's home to photograph their newborn is that I get to see things unfold in a really, truly organic way. And, as the photographer, it's my job to capture those moments on camera!
Sometimes that means I’m there for a major cry-out or a sweet moment between the family and baby. And sometimes that means I get to see the interaction between siblings and their new baby brother or sister, or the way parents work together brilliantly even when they’re exhausted.
My shoot with the Putter family and their newborn, Katrien, was incredibly special, and I got to see many of the things I just mentioned above.
As you'll see, we spent a lot of our time inside the nursery, guest bedroom and main bedroom for this session. The light was soft and pretty and the vibe was calm, which made for some incredible shots and a memorable day.
What's the first thing that ran through your mind when you both found out you were pregnant?
We were very excited! We wondered when to share the news!
How did you prepare your little one for your photo shoot?
There isn't much you can do, just decide what everyone will wear beforehand as well as what items you want in the shoot.
How was your experience having your newborn photographed?
I was stressed about if she would get hungry or start to cry.
What would be your advice to someone getting newborn photographs taken?
Don't stress if baby cries, it is part of it.
