Meet Mimi {A Maternity Sunset Session at the Beach}
Well hello there!
I don't know about you, but I could do a bajillion Maternity Sessions and never ever get bored of them!
I met up with mom-to-be Mimi at Derdesteen Beach, just outside of Melkbosstrand, for her Sunset Maternity Session and we had such a lovely afternoon together. I have been obsessed with this session, going through all the images - there are SO many incredible shots to choose from, to show you - and narrowing them down to what I want to post here has been incredibly difficult. But alas, I've done it! Check it out!
How far along were you with our session together, Mimi?
I was 7 months along.
How was your experience with Just Frame Me Photography?
It was truly amazing to shoot with Karien and we had a really good time shooting with a beautiful sunset at the beach. Karien is a very professional photographer and I love the way she enjoys to see how beautifully the images come out - it shows on her face and made me happy as well :)
What's once piece of advice you would give to other expecting mothers for their Maternity Session?
You will never regret shooting with Karien! She is such a lovely lady to work with, very friendly and kind. And also because Karien is a mother of 3 kids she gives the best opinion and suggestion to you!
What outfits did you wear during our shoot, and why did you decide on those?
I had 4 outfits with me. The first was a flower open gauze - I chose this one because we had the shoot at the beach and I always think flowers goes well with beach style and blue colours with the ocean. Just perfect!
The second outfit was a champagne long dress - soft and clean, a beautiful champagne colour with the tight dress design is just perfect for me to shoot with showing my baby bump.
The 3rd and 4th was white gauze only while being naked - a very nature shoot at the ocean - and a green skirt I used as a body cover - I loved the way when the wind blew and the skirt flew up.
What is something special that your friends and family did for you during the pregnancy?
My beautiful neighbour Maria surprised me with organizing a big baby shower! My little one has received so many gifts and presents! I enjoyed it so much and had lots of fun! :)
What have been your favorite things to do while pregnant? (ex. Pregnancy yoga, walking, reading) Also, have you had any pregnancy cravings?
`My most favourite thing is that while pregnant I can still do shootings with different photographers and try so many different styles that I never tried before. I love the way I still carry on doing what I love. The pregnancy doesn't stop me doing what I love to do! It just brings me more energy and happiness!
What kind of look were you going for in your photos?
Nature, clean and soft were the 3 main things when I did the shoot with Karien! I didn't have dark makeup on or a heavy look. For this maternity shoot we planned for a gentle look.
Is there anything you were self conscious about going into the session? If so, what?
This is my last month and I am starting to get worried and nervous. I wanted to have a natural birth but my Dr told me the baby is quite big and might have some changes during the birth. Hopefully everything will go well!
Do you have a name picked out yet? What is it? (If you don’t mind sharing.) How/why did you
choose this name?
I named the little one 'Chester.' :) The reason for me to pick this name is because Chester Williams was my neighbour who lived next to me and we were so close and he always helped my family so much and he is such an awesome person! I only found out I was pregnant when he passed away two weeks after. I think God brought me a gift so I named my son Chester :)
And finally, how was your experience with Just Frame Me Photography? Would you recommend
us to your friends and family?
Yes! Absolutely! Karien does all the different types of photography from Fresh 48, newborn all the way to Lifestyle and Fashion etc. She is very professional and the images are absolutely beautiful! I would book with Karien for another shoot when I give birth to Chester!

Has your pregnancy gone pretty smoothly or has it been a tough one?
My pregnancy was extremely smooth! I only found out when I was 6 months pregnant! I had no pregnant symptoms at all!!! Until now it's my last month and I still feel nothing and I only gained 5kg in total!
